- Professor, Institute for Advanced Studies, Universiti Malaya
With experience as a professor at Universiti Malaya (UM) and 30+ years in higher education, her area of expertise is not limited to her role as a statistician but also in the internationalization of higher education. Academically, she has supervised many postgraduate students, published articles in referred journals, secured national and international grants, and networked with collaborators globally. Through her previous leadership role as the Director of the International Relations Office and promoted to Associate Vice-Chancellor (Global Engagements), she strategically led an internationalization that cuts across research, academic programs, community works and students’ experience university-wide. She has innovated many international and national collaborations through extensive networks and alliances. She has led the talent management initiative and succession planning in her last leg in the leadership position as the Registrar.
Coupled with her interest in leadership roles, her wide-ranging social science research interests include graduate employability, poverty, ageing and social protection, women leadership, and talent management. She is currently attached to the Institute for Advanced Studies and a senior research fellow at the Social Well-Being Research Centre. In 2024, she was a core member drafting TOR for the APRU Women in Leadership program, providing mentorship and running workshops for early career academics at UM.
