Dr. Nur Hairani Abd Rahman is a Senior Lecturer in Public Policy and Administration, contributing her expertise to Universiti Malaya since 2017. Armed with a Ph.D. in Public Policy from Universiti Sains Malaysia, a Master of Public Administration from Universiti Malaya, and a Bachelor of Social Science (Honours) from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia, Dr. Nur Hairani is a recognized authority in the intricate domains of social policy, encompassing social care, governance, social inclusion/exclusion, inequality, and well-being.

Her influence goes beyond the classroom; she holds pivotal roles in academic editorial positions, currently serving as the Associate Editor for the Journal of Public Administration and Governance and as an Editorial Board Member for the Malaysian Journal of Social Sciences and Humanities. As an esteemed member of the Social Policy Association in the United Kingdom, Dr. Nur Hairani’s impact reverberates on an international scale.

In addition to her academic role, Dr. Nur Hairani plays a significant part in administrative functions, including positions such as the Outbound Mobility Program Coordinator and Master of Public Administration Program Coordinator. Actively participating in various committees at both faculty and university levels, she contributes to policy development and implementation.

At the national level, Dr. Nur Hairani is appointed as a Field Expert of the Malaysian Research and Development Classification System (MRDCS) by the Ministry of Science, Technology, and Innovation (MOSTI). Her expertise extends to consultancy roles for projects focused on poverty eradication, funded by the Economic Planning Unit of the Government of Malaysia.

Her international experience includes a stint as a Visiting Scholar at the University of Messina, Sicily, Italy. In recognition of her outstanding contributions, Dr. Nur Hairani was honored with the Fulbright Scholar Program award in 2023, securing a position as a Visiting Scholar at the University of California, Berkeley, United States (2023/2024).

Dr. Nur Hairani’s dedication and excellence have earned her accolades such as the Excellent Service Award (2022) and the Certificate of Excellent Service (2021) from Universiti Malaya. Her impact in academia is underscored by the Best Presenter Award at the Asian Universities Alliance & Universitas Indonesia (2021).
