One Health: Climate Crises and Planetary Health

From record-breaking heatwaves and zoonotic pandemics to marine dead zones choking with algal blooms, the climate crisis is accelerating global health threats in ways that transcend national borders and disciplinary boundaries. This one-hour interactive session introduces the “One Health” approach—an integrative framework that recognizes the interconnected health of people, animals, plants and ecosystems—as a powerful lens to understand and address these challenges. Students will explore real-world case studies, and through collaborative problem-solving and systems thinking exercises, you will assess the cascading impacts of climate change on health and critically evaluate interdisciplinary interventions rooted in justice and equity. Whether you’re training to be a scientist, policymaker, or someone care about sustainable futures, this session equips you with the tools to think beyond silos—and prepares you to engage with planetary health crises that define our generation.
