Dr. Le Chencheng

Dr. Le Chencheng is a Lecturer at the Asian School of the Environment (ASE), where he primarily teaches and coordinates the interdisciplinary collaborative core course, Sustainability – Society, Economy, and Environment, which receives 6,000 students annually. He also teaches Plant and Animal Physiology at ASE.
Before joining ASE, Dr. Le was a Research Fellow at the Nanyang Environment & Water Research Institute (NEWRI) at Nanyang Technological University (NTU), where he contributed to Singapore’s national water and environmental priorities. He holds a Ph.D. in Environmental Engineering from NTU, where he graduated as valedictorian, and a Bachelor of Science (Honours) degree in Chemistry from the National University of Singapore.
Dr. Le’s principal research interest is in environmental analytical science, with a focus on environmental chemistry. His research has explored fundamental areas such as elucidating the molecular mechanisms of biodegradation, metabolization, and biotransformation across various biotic and abiotic environments. His applied work has contributed to the development of sustainable large-scale centralized wastewater treatment systems and industrial-scale decentralized resource recovery operations aligned with circular economy principles. Additionally, he is passionate about exploring interdisciplinary collaborative learning pedagogy, integrating diverse academic perspectives to enhance sustainability education.
Beyond his academic and teaching duties, Dr. Le actively collaborates with sustainability-focused non-governmental organizations (NGOs) and science-related business organizations.
