Dr. Feng Jing

Dr. Feng JING (景 峰) was educated in English literature, international studies and the history of architecture in China. He holds a Doctorate degree in the history and theory of architecture from Tsinghua University.
For over 30 years, his career has combined professional experience in heritage management and international cooperation for culture at national and international organizations.
Dr. Jing is currently Chief of the Culture Unit of the UNESCO Regional Office in Bangkok. Prior to this function, he was Chief of the Asia and the Pacific Unit at the UNESCO World Heritage Centre (Paris), where he led and managed the overall implementation of the 1972 World Heritage Convention in 47 Member States.
Dr. Jing joined UNSCO Headquarters in Paris in 1997, he directed and managed the implementation of the World Heritage Convention and other major World Heritage conservation projects throughout the region of Asia and the Pacific from 2003 to 2022. He was a member of the senior management team of the UNESCO World Heritage Centre.
In addition, Dr JING served as Coordinator of the global World Heritage Capacity-Building programme, Coordinator of some large-scale Funds-in-Trust cooperation (Australia, Japan, the Netherlands, Republic of Korea) with many global and regional projects at cultural and natural World Heritage sites across the Asia and the Pacific region. He was also the Coordinator of the UNESCO Silk Roads World Heritage nomination project from 2003 to 2022.
Dr. Jing has published and co-authored some 30 publications and over 70 articles on World Heritage, intercultural dialogue, cultural diversity, sustainable development and international cultural cooperation. His lead article “Silk Roads World Heritage inscription: a symbol of international cooperation” was published by The UNESCO Courier in April 2023.
