Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mohd Hafizal Mohd Isa

Dr. Mohd Hafizal Mohd Isa is an Associate Professor at the Department of Architecture, Faculty of Built Environment, Universiti Malaya. He holds a Ph.D. in Engineering (Architecture) from Tohoku University, Japan (2013), a Master’s degree in Sustainable Building Technology from the University of Nottingham, UK (2008), and a Bachelor’s degree in Architecture from Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) .
Prior to his current role, Dr. Hafizal served as the Deputy Director of the International Mobility & Collaboration Centre (IMCC) at USM from 2016 to 2024. In this capacity, he played a pivotal role in promoting international collaboration and student mobility programmes.
Passionate about sustainability and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), Dr. Hafizal’s research focuses on sustainable architecture, renewable energy, thermal comfort and indoor environmental quality. He has been involved in various projects aimed at enhancing building performance through innovative materials and design strategies.
In various mobility programmes, he has contributed in conducting PBL projects with international students on addressing global issues related to SDGs.
