Polarization, Human Dignity & the Pursuit of Peace
Polarization is a worldwide problem of society, causing the segregation and clustering of groups with divergence of ideologies and identities. Some of the features of a polarizing society include group resentment, usand-them mentality and low trust in both state and societal institutions. More often than not, polarization ushers in the process of dehumanization and violation of human dignity between and among contending groups that are vying for power and control. In this context, the pursuit of peace becomes an arduous task. While negative peace can be achieved, positive peace is hard to come by. This talk will explain these three social categories and explain how they are intricately connected with one another
