Prof. Taninee Sahakitrungruang, M.D.

Dr. Taninee Sahakitrungruang is a Professor of Pediatrics at Chulalongkorn University, Bangkok, Thailand. She received her training in Pediatrics and Pediatric Endocrinology at Chulalongkorn University, and completed a two-year fellowship at the University of California, San Francisco (2008-2010). Currently, she serves as the Assistant Dean for Graduate Affairs and is a member of the steering committee for the School of Global Health at Chulalongkorn University responsible for developing the global health/one health curriculum. Additionally, she has been invited to join the advisory group of the Association of Pacific Rim Universities (APRU) network (2023- 2024), where she collaborates on education and solutions for global health challenges and equity gap. She is an esteemed member of the steering committee of the Thai Society for Transformative Learning for Medical Education, playing an active role in the development and implementation of humanistic medicine and education in Thailand.
Dr. Sahakitrungruang’s research interests include pediatric diabetes, non-communicable diseases (NCDs), molecular defects of adrenal steroidogenesis, disorders of sex differentiation, and gender diversity healthcare. Her publications in renowned journals focus on implementation research and interventions to improve the quality of life for pediatric patients in middle-income countries.
Dr. Sahakitrungruang holds executive positions in several professional organizations, including the Diabetes Association of Thailand, the Thai Society of Pediatric Endocrinology, and AsiaPATH. She also serves as an advisory board member of Action4Diabetes (A4D) foundation, which focuses on enhancing the quality of life for children living with type 1 diabetes in Southeast Asia. Dr. Sahakitrungruang actively collaborates with the Ministry of Public Health and the National Health Security Office to advocate for policy changes that facilitate the reimbursement of essential insulin, glucose strips, and continuous glucose monitoring for individuals living with type 1 diabetes in Thailand.
