Ms. Michiko Yoshida

Since 2019, Michiko Yoshida has been supporting Chulalongkorn University’s global engagement efforts in the context of its expanding public role to build a sustainable society. With 33 years of experience in the non-profit sector promoting international intellectual and cultural exchanges, she is committed to the co-creation of knowledge that cultivates empathy and a culture of mutual respect amongst peoples. Cutting across boundaries, she facilitates international intellectual exchanges, dialogues, and collaborations among academics, civil society actors, policymakers, and community stakeholders. She was a regional coordinator of the Asian Public Intellectuals Fellowships Program, the largest multi-country partnership program to date in the region, which was housed under the Institute of Asian Studies, Chulalongkorn University. Prior to coming to Thailand, she worked at The International House of Japan, Inc., which was founded in post-War Japan and is dedicated to international intellectual and cultural exchanges to nurture understanding amongst peoples. Michiko received a BA in Foreign Studies from Sophia University in Tokyo. She is a graduate of the United World College of the Atlantic.
Michiko spearheads several initiatives that promote transdisciplinary and multi-stakeholder engagements of university efforts at national/regional/global levels. She is the Program Director of APRU SDG Education for Global Citizenship program, a Co-convener of a regional platform Civic Engagement 4.0~Dignity, Justice, Sustainability About us – Civic Engagement 4.0 (chula.ac.th) which launched “Training the Trainers for Engaged Social Service in a Borderless World” (training for displaced teachers from Myanmar) in 2023, and the Director of CU-UNESCO Futures Literacy Project in which Chulalongkorn University established its UNESCO Chair for Resource Governance and Futures Literacy UNESCO Chair in Resource Governance and Futures Literacy — Center for Social Development Studies (csds-chula.org).
